Adding Family Members

How to add living and deceased family members to your family profile.

Your family profile is the foundation of BestFarewell. Adding members lets you build a complete picture of your family, connect memorials and obituaries to the right people, and invite others to contribute.

Getting Started

From your dashboard, open Family in the main navigation. You'll see your current family members and an option to add someone new. Click Add Member to begin.

Required Information

For each family member, you'll need:

  • Name – Full name as you'd like it to appear
  • Relationship – How they relate to you (spouse, parent, child, sibling, etc.)
  • Status – Living or deceased

These fields ensure the member appears correctly in your family tree and in any memorials or obituaries you create.

Optional Details

You can add more context when you're ready:

  • Birth date and death date (for deceased members)
  • Notes – Any details you want to remember or share with family

You can always come back and fill these in later. There's no need to have everything at once.

Adding Through Sage

If you prefer a guided flow, open Sage from your dashboard and say something like "I'd like to add a family member." Sage will walk you through the same fields and save the member to your family profile. This can be helpful when you're adding several people or when you're not sure where to start.
