Creating a Memorial

Step-by-step guide to creating a memorial page to honor a loved one.

A memorial page is a lasting place to celebrate someone's life. You can add photos, write a tribute, and invite family and friends to contribute. Here's how to create one.

Where to Start

You can create a memorial in two ways:

From the dashboard. Click Memorials in the main navigation, then Create Memorial. You'll be guided through the setup.

Through Sage. Open Sage and say something like "I want to create a memorial for my mother." Sage will walk you through the same steps and can help you write the tribute if you'd like.

Required Information

You'll need a few basics to get started:

  • Name – The full name of the person you're honoring
  • Dates – Birth date and, if applicable, death date
  • Tribute – A short or longer piece about their life, personality, and what made them special

If the person is already in your family profile as a deceased member, you can select them and some of this information will be filled in automatically.

Adding Photos

During setup or after, you can upload photos to the memorial. Drag and drop or click to browse. Add captions to give context. Photos can be reordered later, and you can invite family to contribute their own.

The Memorial URL

Each memorial gets a unique web address (URL) based on a slug you choose. For example, if you pick "marie-thompson," the memorial will be available at a URL like bestfarewell.com/memorial/marie-thompson. Choose something meaningful and easy to share. Slugs must be unique across BestFarewell.

Sage and the Complete Workflow

Sage can guide you through the full memorial workflow—from choosing what to include to writing the tribute and inviting family. If you're not sure where to start or what to say, ask Sage. It's designed to help when words feel difficult.
